Gentle Wood Finish Removal
Because our goal is to preserve the natural quality of wood and the integrity of the stain/sealer, we never use finish removers containing potassium or sodium hydroxide. These chemicals can change the chemistry of the wood leading to discoloration. When we use finish removers, they do not dissolve finishes. Instead, they soften the finish to allow removal by pressure washing and sanding.
Before we begin, we take extensive measures to protect the surfaces of your home that do not need to be stripped. We will remove downspouts and cover or mask off any area so the finish remover does not have any effect. Finish removers will soften stains and paints. We will protect decks and porch floors before beginning the application. We utilize both S-100 and Strip-It for finish removal, and neither is toxic to plants. However, we still believe it is best practice to cover plants before beginning.
